CTO Scott GrimshawScott Grimshaw :: Chief Technology Officer
Scott’s extensive scientific background in solid state thin film sensors and chemical applications is a key asset for Colnatec. Author and co-author of 8 U.S. patents ranging from thin film photovoltaic cell manufacture, high temperature microbalances, optical sensors and piezoelectric powered security devices, Scott has the tools and skills to manage any new and ongoing Colnatec sensor projects. He is the founder of two solid state sensor R&D and manufacturing companies –Cold Springs R&D, Inc. and Tangidyne Corp—both profitable ventures still in operation. Scott has direct work experience in chemical measurements (surface, bulk, wet chemical and spectroscopic), optical, electro-optical, electronic and magnetic device fabrication, semiconductor manufacture, thin film solar cells and crystal microbalances.

His mission at Colnatec is to invent and develop the next generation of thin film sensing technology for the advancement of current technologies generating electricity from sunlight and reducing costs in existing solar cell production.

Scott lives in Gilbert, AZ and Greenville, SC where he spends his time with Marley, Phillip, and Valerie. Aside from solving the world’s film thickness problems, his favorite things to do include cycling (both competitively & for leisure), traveling the world, and determining the physio-chemical effects of pinot noir.
